Dictionary of the Associations of Native Bulgarian Speakers from the Village of Osmar Area, Shumen Region (DANBSO)

At the beginning of March 2022 was published the Dictionary of the Associations of Native Bulgarian Speakers from the Village of Osmar Area, Shumen Region (DANBSO) authored by Velka Popova and Aneta Nedyalkova. It popularizes the results of a free associative experiment, conducted within the period 2019-2021 among 100 participants aged 18-90 from the village of Osmar and the adjacent villages of Troitsa and Khan Krum.

This contribution is highly specialized thematically and has in its focus the words which are archaic or becoming archaic in terms of their positioning in the mental lexicon of the modern native speaker of Bulgarian from a Bulgarian village. This is the factor which determines the prevalence in the list of stimuli of realia denominations from the distant past and those which refer to realia from the more recent past, namely from socialist times.

The associative data in the Dictionary of the Associations of Native Bulgarian Speakers from the Village of Osmar Area, Shumen Region (DANBSO) are presented simultaneously in digital format within the LABLASS web-based system developed within the CLADA-BG project, which facilitates the comparative and contrastive representation of the data from the different integrated dictionaries as well as their visualization in the context of the verbal-associative network of each separate dictionary.
